Blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) originated in northern Europe and Asia. In Russia blackcurrant was grown in monasteries and during WWII in Britain, blackcurrant was used as a source of vitamin C. But what other vitamins and minerals do it have? Blackcurrant leaves and berries possess antioxidants, vitamin C and polyphenolic substances.
