Darjeeling tea is a type of tea made from the Camellia sinensis plant and is grown and processed in the Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts of West Bengal, India. Orange Pekoe (OP) is a term used to describe a particular genre of black teas, including Darjeeling tea, in the Western tea trade. Orange Pekoe does not refer to the flavor of the tea but rather to the size and quality of the tea leaves. OP denotes that the tea is loose-leaf and of medium to high quality. When a "B" is added, it indicates that the leaves are broken, resulting in a stronger cup of tea. An "F" stands for flowery, which signifies that the tea is of higher quality and includes the buds of the tea plant.

Black tea is rich in polyphenols that act as antioxidants, reducing the risk of chronic diseases and improving overall health. It can help lower blood glucose levels and improve the body's ability to manage sugar, making it beneficial for normal and pre-diabetic adults. Additionally, it has anti-bacterial properties that help fight against certain bacteria.
